Ocean Quest Global is an environment organization founded by Mr Anuar Abdullah in 2010, in Malaysia, and is rapidly expanding globally. After years of research, Ocean Quest Global has created its own techniques, methodology and material for coral reef rehabilitation, which are based on the idea that coral can be restored on a large scale, in an all-natural and non-invasive way. Both the Ocean Quest Coral Propagation Workshop and Course are available at Club Nomad.
Our first Kid Scuba Camp started last summer holiday in August, at our private salt water pool at WorkAround! Total of 10 young divers, age between 8 – 11, joined in the fun-packed kids program ~ a really packed-session from 9am – 4pm daily, for 5 days!
The camp started with a daily marine awareness presentation. This is where they learned about corals, marine animals, marine debris and the importance to protect and conserve them. Next up, was the PADI Seal Team Aquamission’s briefing, which everyone eagerly waited for! The young divers get suited up with kid’s size wetsuit and gear, and the fun session begun! They had their first breath underwater, learning skills such as regulator clearing, mask clearing and buoyancy control, which are all part of PADI Seal Team program that introduces kids to the wonder of breathing and moving underwater. To add to the excitement, we had incorporated various underwater games each day that took the camp to a new level of fun!
The kids really enjoyed the session and even journaled their exciting experiences in their dive logs:
“I enjoy the game most”, Jayden
“I want to come back and dive”, Ellsa
Each day the program ends with a STEAM activity session with OPSTOPUS. OPSTOPUS believes in “To learn is to play”, and they have specially curated various ocean theme activities where kids learnt about ocean currents, ocean layers and many more ~
All 9 of them are now certified as PADI Seal Team members. We look forward to see them in the Junior Scuba Diver and Junior Open Water course soon!
